Alright, here is my idea.
A boy moves to a new state, you can pick the state. California, Virginia... whatever. He goes exploring the woods near his house one day, and finds a girn slightly older than him living there. She explains why this town is so run-down, lonely, and abandoned, and soon they figure out how to make it a better place. Sorry that's all I got :P -
I think it's good! I'm picking Michigan because of the word 'woods'. Makes me think of Michigan.
