He nodded, holding him close in his arms as he carefully brought him upstairs. He set him in his bed softly, noticing how hot his forehead was. "You have a fever... here I'll get some medicine and cool water and a washcloth."
-
"But.. you need to get to work, Roka," he mumbled, hoping he wasn't out of the room just yet.
-
"I'll go, but I need to first make sure you're okay." He gave him a soft caring look and collected the supplies, coming back and starting to attend to him.
-
Kumiko was shocked by his response, and didn't know what to say. As he was attended to, he couldn't help but feel thankful about how kind and caring Roka was to him.
-
Roka dampened the cloth, making sure there wasn't too much water left, and rested it on his forehead. "My mother used to do this when I was little, when I got a fever or it was so hot outside." He almost chuckled softly. "It seems the best way I got attention from her was when I was sick." When he felt the cloth was warm again, he took it away and dipped it in the water, doing as he did before.
-
"I'm sorry.." he muttered sadly, looking up at him apologetically. He began to feel the fever calm down, and soon he wasn't as comfortable as before.
-
"Nah, it's fine, but thank you." He smiled softly, putting down the cloth when Kumiko seemed to feel a bit better. "You must be thirsty, yes? Is there anything you'd like to eat as well?"
-
Dammit **uncomfortable
"Just thirsty.. I'm not hungry, it's okay.." Kumiko insisted, nodding. "Th.. Thank you, Roka.." -
Roka nodded, smiling kindly. "Of course, Kumi. So, water, yes?"
-
"Yes, please," he replied softly.
-
"Right, I'll be right back." He went downstairs, getting a couple water bottles to bring upstairs to him so he wouldn't run out. "Here you go~." He opened the cap and handed him the bottle, setting the rest on the nightstand next to the bed.
-
He took the bottle and drank the water from it feverishly. Kumiko began to feel much better than before, but still felt very sick.
-
"Is there anything else you need?" Roka asked attentively. "I'll have to go to my shift, but I'll be back right after, okay?"
-
"No, I'm good now," he nodded. "Thank you. And okay, Roka." The truth was, he wanted Roka out. Not because he hated him or anything, but because he didn't want to get the other man sick.
-
Roka nodded and waved goodbye. "If you need anything just call me. See ya soon, Kumi." He went downstairs and left back to his car. It looked like he'd be a few minutes late, but he hoped it wouldn't be too big of a deal. Of course, he was the new guy, so he needed to show up and do his best if he wanted to keep the job.
