sabrina carpenter haters pmo because most of the time it's not even bc of her music, it's bc of her branding

so many times i see hate comments about her not being a feminist or being sexist or racist or politically problematic and i just can't understand it. I've tried hearing stuff from the other peoples perspective but most of the time they mention s--- they do online or in their album covers, like bro that's her BRANDING not her MUSIC or her as a PERSON. Her whole MUSIC is the fact that she has conflicting feelings about men and her (former and current) partner(s). Her BRANDING is sexy, unserious, and confident. She merged those two together to create the album. Her as a PERSON is genuinely a really good person. Is she problematic because of some of the things her as a PERSON have done? yes. does she have an inflated ego? Honestly yes, but it's tricky to tell if that's her branding or her as a person. But she's very much a feminist, and an ally, and an activist for mental, animal, queer, and immigrant rights. You can dislike her music, and you can hate her online persona. Go ahead. But to claim you hate her as a person is just baffling to me, like bro come on you don't KNOW her as a person, you know her as a BRAND

honestly the problems people have with her are completely opposite to the problems people have with Chappell Roan.
Chappell Roans online persona is, from what I can tell, her as a PERSON. Snippy, political, indicisive, and very very strongly opinionated. Her brand- from what I can tell- doesn't associate with that persona, making it feel like it's a personal choice and not a branding one. People have problems with Chappell Roan for how she reacts online, and for being so problematic and refusing to admit it. It's almost god complex-y
I'm not saying it's right to hate either of these artists, or that it's fair to judge either one based on their branding or personal opinions, but it's so bizarre that the same people who hate sabrina carpenter for her branding choices are the same ones who will defend chappell roan, or vice versa. Music is nuanced. Always has been, always will be. To strip music artists of their personal opinions and musical choices and judge them only on their branding is so superficial and lacks the emotional integrity and maturity that creates such nuanced people and music in the first place -
thats my daily music rant for the week
