The French Revolution (French: Révolution française) was a period of radical political and societal change in France that began with the Estates General of 1789 and ended with the formation of the French Consulate in November 1799. Many of its ideas are considered fundamental principles of liberal democracy, while phrases like liberté, égalité, fraternité reappeared in other revolts, such as the 1917 Russian Revolution, and inspired campaigns for the abolition of slavery and universal suffrage. The values and institutions it created dominate French politics to this day.

What is your position on Louis XVI and the French Monarchy in general?
- The monarchy is a time-honoured tradition dating back to the days of Charlemagne and is crucial to the continued stability of France! That people even wish to curb King Louis' power is utter treason!
- As long as King Louis and his family cooperate with the Revolution, they can stay, but we won't hesitate to punish them if they aren't loyal to our cause and we should certainly curb their power and place it more in our hands oops I mean the hands of the French people.
- King Louis is of little use to us, in fact the notion of monarchy is against everything I stand for. For a free and equal France we must abolish this ancient practice!
- We should definitely curb the power of the Ancien Regime, but what's the harm in keeping King Louis around? He can remain as a figurehead, but we'll call the shots.
- I'm not sure. I'm more concerned with staying alive. Whatever the people want , I guess.
What is your position on religion, the Catholic Church and the separation of Church and State?
- We should absolutely reduce the role of the Catholic Church in the state, but I'm all for religious freedom.
- The Catholic Church is an institution older than our nation itself, and it is an integral part of what makes us French. The clergy are a crucial part of the running of our country and we should make no attempt to restrict these enlightened men from involvement with government.
- The Church has had its time. The time has come to embrace reason and throw off the shackles of an obsolete religion and embrace the Enlightenment with open arms. Deism and Atheism are the way to go for France.
- I'm a Catholic, but if the French people want the Church out of politics I'd support efforts to do just that as long as it doesn't ruffle too many feathers.
- Catholicism is a key part of the French identity. We should limit its power but Catholicism and other such institutions should be safeguarded.
Should the Revolution be spread to other parts of Europe?
- There shouldn't be a Revolution to spread.
- Absolutely. The rest of Europe deserves to throw off the shackles of monarchism just as we have! We should create Sister Republics in liberated territories.
- Possibly. It would be nice, but we're fighting virtually the rest of the continent right now. We should defend our revolution and our nation at all costs, but we need to be realistic. If we can simply secure peace with our enemies, that'll do for now. We can break Europe's chains at a later date.
- Our revolution is uniquely French. We simply want to change our nation and our nation alone. In fact, we should pursue good relations with nations like Great Britain who have also accepted constitutionalism to some extent.
- If we can win, sure. But let's just avoid all being guillotined first.
How should we take steps to improve the French economy?
- The King knows best. He'll appoint capable ministers and levy taxes that will save our nation from financial ruin.
- We should embrace free trade and classical liberalism. The United States and Great Britain are going down similar paths, and their economies show signs of booming. A liberal economy will also make me oops I mean the French people more money by allowing us the freedom to own more property and do more business.
- The state needs to take command. Land reform and wealth distribution will make France great, and will alleviate the poverty crisis we're currently in.
- Whatever the situation calls for. A little liberalism and a little dirigisme in due portions will hopefully keep everyone happy anyway.
Should slaves in French colonies like Saint-Domingue be freed?
- No, they're ungodly and can never be allowed to freely enter our society.
- Absolutely; they deserve freedom regardless of the cost to our economy. It's the right thing to do.
- While I wish it were otherwise, unfortunately our economy simply isn't in shape to just let go of the workforce of one of our key sources of wealth. Maybe when things are better economically.
- Are you kidding? Of course! The abhorrent practice of slavery should have ended long ago - it is simply feudalism with extra steps. All men on Earth deserve to be free and equal.
- It looks like maybe we won't need to - they're freeing themselves. Let's just worry about not being guillotined and in the meantime re-establish control over Saint-Domingue.
