Chester let him.
‘We should get a cat,’ Maeve said.
‘We already have a cat,’ Oliver said.
‘One that isn’t a shapeshifter, dummy.’ -
Jayden held Chester close. "This is my[ cat." He said with fake possessiveness.

Chester mewed, pretty happy with this.
‘Keep him, it’s weird petting my older brother.’ -
Jayden smirked, patting his head.

Chester leaned into his touch.
‘Did you guys, um, see the papers?’ Maeve said quietly. ‘About, y’know..’ -
"Chester being a murderer?" Jayden nodded.

‘Do you know who told them?’

"Astrid."

Maeve frowned. ‘That little s---, he promised not the try anything!’

Jayden raised his eyebrows. "What?"
Lavender also looked mildly confused, holding her closer. -
Maeve huffed. ‘When I found out he broke Chester’s watch, I may or may not have teleported in his room at 3am and threatened him to fix it.’
‘How did you threaten him?’ Oliver said, very clearly impressed.
‘Maybe with a sharp object. Maybe not.’ -
"You threatened my brother?" Jayden laughed, trying to imagine Astrid being scared of a teenage girl.

‘Maybe! When he said no I just came back multiple times at night until he agreed to get it fixed.’

Jayden looked impressed. "Well done."
