Callum sat next to them, catching a paper airplane in midair. He scrunched it up and threw it at the kid that made it.

“Woah, that was cool.” They said. “Nice reflexes.”

'Thank you,' he responded, then winced as the scrunched up piece of paper hit the kid in the head - hard, too, because the kid yelled angrily at him.

Eli sat down on their chair, motioning for Callum to sit next to them.

Callum did the same and pulled out his English textbook.

Eli pulled out the textbook and instead of opening it he just stared at it boredly.

The substitute teacher started her lecture, but interrupted herself a lot to scold kids still talking and mucking around. Callum tried to listen, but eventually got bored of trying to learn and stared out the window absentmindedly.

Eli wrote a couple notes in the reading they had to do for the week and doodled in the margins.
“Ugh, it’s so boring.” -
Callum chuckled once, then nodded, still staring out the window.

“So… how’ve you been today?” Eli asked Callum, trying to fight the boredom.

Callum smirked. 'I've been fine. Yourself?'

“I’m good.” Eli said, grinning.

'That's good,' Callum stated, stifling a chuckle.

“So………… what d’you wanna talk about?” Eli asked, not knowing what else to say.

'Not sure,' Callum replied, shifting his gaze from the window to Eli.
