Birdkit intelligently mimicked Drakestorm, shifting her paws every now and then to be as accurate as possible. Flykit and Stormkit squatted down to the ground, their tails raised high. Icekit hid behind a clump of grass, trying to be as sneaky as possible to catch her "prey".
Drakestorm looked over. "Okay, you guys have learned plenty today. I'll show you more tomorrow. Keep practicing, and you'll all be apprentices in no time!"
Icekit's eyes shone brightly and she had an eager expression on her face. "I'd do anything to be a warrior one day! Just you wait, Papa, I'll be the fiercest, bestest warrior ever!"
"Bestest isn't a word, Icekit!" Birdkit retorted. "Besides, fighting isn't what a warrior is all about. Mama said so."
Icekit stuck her tongue out at Birdkit. "Whatever! I can be the best fighter and you can be the best hunter or something."
"Family doesn't usually mentor apprentices due to biased decisions and judgement, but I'm sure your mentors will be perfect to suit your needs." He reassured them.
Stormkit hopped off of Flykit. "I hope so! I don't want Sightfall as my mentor though. She treats all of us kits like BABIES, so I don't really like her."
"Stormkit! What a thing to say about your Clanmate," Bluefly scolded. Stormkit looked guilty, shuffling his paws.
Stormpaw nestled in her den, eyes closed as she breathed softly. She was very tired, indeed; all she wanted was to drift to sleep, never to wake up again. But it was a long day, and there was no ending to it. Her rhythmic breathing ended in a long, powerful, exasperated sigh as she heaved herself lightly onto her paws, examining the clearing around her.
