'Aight, let's roll
Drakestorm padded out of his den. Sunlight washed over his fur. He had slept in, as he hadn't gone on the dawn patrol. He gave his tail a few licks and padded further into the clearing. Some cats were already awake, murmuring softly to each other as the crisp morning air hit his senses, making him more awake than ever. Leaf-fall was a hard time, and leaf-bare would be coming soon.
Seasons, days, months, and hours pass as they do IRL! =D))
Wait no not hours just days))
Treeslash stretched and yawned, slinking out of the warriors' den. He spotted Sightfall and padded up to her, purring and nudging his head against her fluffy white coat. She jumped in surprise, her ears twitching around before she smelled him.
She burst into a loud, rumbling purr when she recognized him. He looked into her sightless eyes and smiled in a melancholy way, touching his tail to hers gently.
He glanced at the dwindling fresh-kill pile. He saw a flash of ginger fur pass in front of him. It was the deputy, Dusktooth.
"Hey, Dusktooth! Where are you going his morning?" Drakestorm called to her.
"I was leading a hunting patrol. Why?" She asked, as curiosity flickered in her deep blue eyes.
"May I go with you?" He asked.
"Sure," She replied with a flick of her tail. "We'd better get a move on. Lightheart and Wrenpaw will be waiting."
He padded after her to see mentor and apprentice waiting by the camp entrance.
"Wanna go outside with me?" Treeslash said in the playful, loving tone he usually adopted around the people he cared about.
"Yes!" she said brightly, getting to her paws. Treeslash stepped next to her so their shoulders touched. This way, he'd be able to guide her around.
"Where are we hunting today?" He asked politely as they quietly walked out of camp.
"I was thinking we could go to the border with MossClan. Maybe renew some scent markers up through there." The deputy replied.
As they got closer to the border, Drakestorm scented the air. There was a rabbit nearby! He quietly stepped through the brush, and found it - a plump rabbit nibbling on the grass. It would feed all the elders! He flicked his tail to Lightheart and Wrenpaw, guestering them closer. He thought maybe Lightheart's apprentice should practice her hunting skills. He nodded to Wrenpaw, and tilted his head to Lightheart. Asking if she thought the same. Lightheart's eyes widened.
"Are you sure?" She asked.
He flinched, and glanced over to see if her voice had scared the rabbit away. Then he nodded.
Lightheart nodded to Wrenpaw. The apprentice crouched down low, and sprang. But cracked a twig while she was doing it. The rabbit saw her almost immediately, and ran over the MossClan border. Wrenpaw chased right after it. A few moments later, she dragged back the rabbit. But cat-scent was following her. It was Treeslash and Sightfall. And when they appeared, they did not look happy.
Treeslash bristled. "What were you doing on our territory? Do you have any idea what borders are? Explain yourselves!"
Sightfall could smell the scent of rabbit and judging by Treeslash's tone, they had done something wrong. She fluffed up, staring blindly at them. They didn't know she was blind. She pinned her ears back defensively.
"This is our rabbit. It was on InfernoClan territory to begin with." Dusktooth hissed. "If you'd like to fight for it... SO be it then."
"Wait- maybe there's no need for this!" Drakestorm started, but the deputy cut him off.
"What, are we just going to give prey away at no cost? It's ours and they will respect that!"
