She waited until they had disappeared into the distance of the foggy mist which had looked as if it had eaten them alive, before she cautiously slipped out of her den, bringing a few herbs along with her.
Silverkit padded away with her chin lifted high. "Twigkit!" She pounced on a brown tom kit. "Silverkit!" Twigkit laughed, rolling over.
Windy looked sad. "Why did she hurt me? I wasn't mean to her."
Royalheart growled back through the mist, before turning to the small kit. "Some cats aren't as nice as you, Windy. Don't give up hope, you'll meet someone nice one day."
"Like you and Echolight?" he said. Royalheart smiled.
Echolight hesitantly peered back, before deciding it was for the best. What has to be done must be done. She thought, inhaling the mist which surrounded her to try to make herself feel better. She continued to pad forward, unaware of the lurking shadow.
"Crylong," She called, her tail brushing the ground underneath her. Crylong, a silver she-cat, appeared. Crylong studied Echolight thoroughly, before nodding. "StarClan has sent me to see you."
"Remember; we must not tell anyone about this, not even our leaders," Echolight reminded Crylong. "StarClan has sent us an omen, and we must figure it out ourselves, along with whomever the third is."
