Elytra arranged a giant nest in the living room as before, placing all the things Vitalus might want within reach.

Vitalus noticed and flew over to investigate

"Just like before, see?" Elytra said happily.

Vitalus noddex with a trill

Elytra arranged a little bed for Syd in a short can. He crawled in obligingly and investigated it.

Vitalus climbed into the nest

Elytra tucked him in, patting him on the head.

Vitalus purred quietly

Syd ate a grape and fell asleep. Elytra pulled a napkin over him as a blanket and turned the lights off.

Vitalus watched her, his eyelights and white speckling glowing faintly

"I'm afraid of what they might try to do," Elytra said, sitting down next to him.

Vitalus rattled quietly at her before hugging her

Elytra hugged him tightly. "They want to make you a solider. I'm worried they'll make you do things you wouldn't want to do."

Vitalus set his head on her shoulder

Elytra stroked his head therapeutically, staring at the wall in deep thought.
