Evan fiddled with his thumbs as he thought up plans for his costume, which he would wear to the party that night. He didn’t want to dress up at all, but he was also afraid of being called out. He may have seemed tough, but deep down, he was insecure and overthought just about everything. Evan decided to just wear a black shirt, jean jacket, and a pair of black skinny jeans, along with a pair of Timberlands. It was simple, and he never fantasized if squeezing himself into some bat costume.

Elytra dressed in dark colors. She would slip off to the party, pretend that everything was fine, and go back. No one would suspect her, and this was the one time in a year she could act like herself.

Evan arrived at the party later that night. There were people having fun both outside and inside of the house. Halloween music played from speakers and Evan thought this might be a great way to introduce himself. He had recently moved to this town only a few weeks prior to the party. He couldn’t help but feel a tingle of excitement as he caught a glimpse of everyone’s costumes.

Elytra was very amused when people commented how good her costume was. "It was all made naturally, of course," she would say. "Organic and all that jazz."

Evan pushed his way through the crowd outside and noticed a few familiar faces from school. He squeezed between people to get to them, muttering many apologies.
Once he reached the group, he exhaled, “hey guys.”
The group seemed to be surprised he was there. “You showed up!” one of them exclaimed. -
Elytra slipped over to the refreshments and drank some punch. Hey, it wasn't like all she ever drank was blood.
