"I see. In that case, I will act as your guardian until a proper one can be reinstated. Must have slipped the queen's mind, that's all," she said, cheerfully.

"One moment people are trying to kill us, the next, we're in a world hostile to us, and we have a guardian," Rasia mumbled.

"How very fascinating you are," Mink said, peering at Rasia. "How many colors can you see?"

"Um . . . lots?" Rasia said, confused. "All?"

"I think not," she said. "And that is very intriguing. For where you see lavender, I see blaise, sein, qor, and others. How can this be so?"

"Uh . . . you have more cones in the back of your eye?" she said.

"I have a lot of color rods, yes. As I said, not very good powers. Vocal imitations, more colors, meh. Not very good."

Rasia shook her head slightly. "Ok."

Mink looked pointedly at Sammy. "You aren't saying much."

"Yeah, we switched roles suddenly," Rasia said.

"Is that something you do often?" Mink prrssed, curiously.

"All the time." she answered simply. "I don't remember a time when I talked so much. Maybe I got a bit of what Kenna has." -
Mink's eyes flashed. "You're not even close to Kenna yet. She spoke for ten hours straight yesterday about a rock."

"That's why I said a bit. I didn't say a chunk," Rasia said, wondering bow someone could possibly talk for so long about a rock.

Mink straightened up. "So, where to?"
