"Im sor-" Before I could finish what I was saying a soldier put a gun where my heart would be. I breathed softly and just hoped for the best

"Don't hur-!" I didn't get to finish my sentence because a soldier wrapped his hand around my mouth and held a gun by my head, "Walk!" he said in a stern voice

The man pulled then gun away and yanked me up. "No more funny stuff, " he said sternly.

I walked quickly, following the rest of the Jews to a tall grey building which was falling apart. The soldier lead me to an empty cell, barrs instead of doors. The stench of death filled the whole building

I Stoddard up straight.

Without warning he put his hand on my back and shoved me into the cellar, I fell face first onto te cold hard ground

I watched as they led the others out of the van.

I slowly crawled to the corner and huddled up in a small ball, I wanted to disapear

They said that was all and I marched to the cell I was suppost to watch. It was the one with the girl in it.

I noticed the soldier who helped me was guarding my cellar, I said in a soft voice, "Thank you for helping me sir"

"Your welcome, " I said back in a very hushed voice. I looked around and since no one was there, I unlocked the cell door and sat beside her.

I turned and looked at him curiously, he didn't hate me even though I'm Jewish? Finally, its nice not having everyone wanting to kill me. But they will kill me soon, "Why aren't you trying to hurt me like the other Germans?" I said quietly

"Im not like them," I replied. I slowly pulled a small piece of bread out of my pocket and looked at her. "Want some?"

"Then I won't hate you" my eyes widened at the piece of bread, been so long since I've had proper food, "A-are you sure? Its no point giving it to me...I'm going to die either way" I said resting my head on my knees

"I will make sure you don't die," I took my finger and gently spreaded some cold butter onto the bread. I slowly placed it into her soft hand.
