I held his hand.

He squeezed her hand gently.

I hugged him, and started to cry.

He rubbed her back gently. "What's wrong?"

"My life," I said.

"Shhh... I'll make sure you never go back to that." He hugged her tightly.

"They'll call the cops." I said.

"I thought you said they wouldn't care." He picked her up and carried her ashore.

"Only at home," I said.
