The key is to not over-think things. Often times people get used to racking their mind for how to go about doing a problem. Once they're used to it, they tend to do it for each and every one, thus making the easier ones seem the hardest.

Instead of having your mind run circles around itself, take a break and go at it piece by piece. Uncover your prior knowledge and use it to help you. Not every problem you come across will be as complicated as a trigonometric sequence. All you have to do is use what you know to fill in bits and pieces that you don't.
