oh that's so sweet, i've always felt connected to Apollo and Aphrodite lol.
-
but yeah its super interesting to see different takes and genuinely I don't think any of it is objectively wrong.
-
I know very very little about anyone being mentioned if y'all wanna talk about them! ^^
-
that's why I love these like smaller sites with a good range of people rather than giant apps with a small range of people because Snapchat is awful, anything other than Christianity is "objectively wrong" and its like how do I even talk to you

me when "[pride emoji] [hand shoving it away] mason [various sports things] [cross]" says anything bro

in hellenism, medusa was once a devoted priestess to athena, goddess of war. she was the only one of her three sisters who happened to be human, and was widely renowned for her beauty. some visitors to athena's temple came not to worship, but to catch a glimpse of the priestess medusa. one of these admirers was poseidon, god of the sea. he was apparently known for his arrogance and sense of entitlement.
medusa made a vow to athena to maintain her chastity and remain pure, so she rejected poseidon's advances many times despite him being a god. one day, when walking along the shoreline, medusa encountered poseidon again and ran away from him, fleeing to athena's temple. however, poseidon followed her there and decided to do well... things that were not consensual.
rather than punish poseidon, athena decided to punish medusa by turning her long, sought-after hair into living snakes, and made her once beautiful eyes weapons that turned anyone into stone instantly if they made eye contact with her. from devoted priestess to monster, by the one she worshipped, for "breaking her vow".
medusa was forced into exile far away from the city, but rumors of this "monster" still spread and warriors tried many times to hunt her down as a trophy. however, polydectes, king of seriphus, sent a warrior named perseus to hunt her down who finally succeeded by looking at her reflection in his shield. he successfully decapitated her, and from her neck sprung pegasus and chrysaor, two children that resulted from poseidon's assault. -
SORRY that was meant to be a short explanation but when i get talking about medusa specifically i can't stop
