my older cousin got a couple tattoos!

apparently she's had them for a while and just hasn't wanted to show them off. I was a bit surprised by her getting them since she's pretty LDS (tattoos are against the rules and kinda taboo) but the tattoos are very pretty, so I approve

and she told me they didn't hurt nearly as bad as anyone says, that they just hurt like a cat scratching you, so that's good to hear

maybe one day i'll be a foster parent. i don't think i'd be able to do it full time or anything, but making sure kids are loved, even if it's just for a few days, sounds like a total dream

and this is coming from a 2010 kid, I'm Gen Z. All of my little siblings are Gen Alpha, as well as my younger neighbors. I job shadowed a 5th grade class for a month.
The kids are fine. They can be bratty, but pretty standard brattiness. Literacy rates are dropping throughout the state/country, but they are able to understand abstract concepts, like empathy, political issues, and even hardcore science concepts incredibly well. They're hyperactive, but if I, a teenage hardcore people pleaser, am able to discipline a 30 person class of 5th grade tiktok brainrotted children, then it's certainly able to be done -
And yeah, I come from a higher income area, and my state is known for being pretty good at STEM, but still.
Younger Gen Alpha is fine for now. It's the older kids I'm worried about. The ones who's brains are still trying to catch up from Covid. The ones who were in elementary during 2020, and still don't know how to socialize, or have empathy, or understand certain concepts, because the time their brain was most equipped to handle that, they were locked up in their house
Gen Alpha is getting better. The younger ones are bouncing back, and are fully able to be on or above grade level expectations. The problem isn't them. It's that people have given up on them, and the constant talking about how f---ed up they are isn't helping -
and again, I know I'm a bit out of touch with this. the elementaries near me are above grade level averages for reading and STEM. I just don't get why we're all s---ting on these generations for not excelling in a system that's failing them

the education system just pisses me off. We punish teachers who provide creative results and get students interested in their subjects, because it's "not in the standard curriculum", but the students struggle with the standard scripted lessons because they aren't built for them. It doesn't work.
