just sitting at the bar thinking about his divorced wife and how she got custody of the kids and maybe if he had just gotten home ONE HOUR EARLIER, he could have stopped her from going, stopped her from taking the family minivan and driving down the road with his three beautiful children who will now never know the blessing of a home that is not broken, all of them too young and naive to truly understand that the fights and glares and hostile auras were not their fault but the fault of two adults who thought they were different from the other couples only to be proved wrong and become like their parents before them, divided like strangers when they used to consider themselves as one
if only he had gotten home one hour earlier
