You can only download music on Spotify unless you have a premium membership. On some tablets, you can listen to any song you want with WiFi. Mainly on phones, it's a little more restrictive and gives you tiny amounts of skips and you can't listen to a variety of songs without the skips.

On phones, you have 5 skips, and that is without premium. I don't have premium and I still love the app
