Newb is a commonly used word. It's not limited to this website.

I usually see the word newb used in MMOs and game forums. It's not usually used for much other than that.

I'm on fanfiction.net, funtrivia.com, schoolofdragons.com, and quiztron.com at least. I think there's more but I don't remember them at the moment. I don't go on them very often.
