Well you can become immortal if you're one of the blessed by chopping of your own head. If it grows back - ok kidding you must go on a quest and prove yourself and you will become a blessed immortal.
Or for the other thing it means you're a mythological immortal creature than can still be killed ( immortals can be killed depending on race and how they were killed example hunters of artemis and being killed in a battle ) -
He's not or SHE would have sensed it... She knows all about those shape shifters .

Which one if you're a blessed mortal you will feel your self being summoned and called to an element
If you're a water creature you will feel urges
