I just got done watching Stephen King's movie "The mist." It was awesome but the ending.... THE ENDING.

What is confusing about it? He kills/sacrifices them and his son so they don't have to suffer and then the army comes and saves the people. It's like the biggest twist ending ever. It's awesome -
