Actually, pretty sure both of the times were a year, one had an extra three weeks. Not almost. Still, must mean something for it to go past a few months.

Probably because some people like to bask in drama/think creating it is entertaining or exciting. Another reason is that some people are more melodramatic than others, and may get offended more easily resulting in fights and stuff. Internet relationships just generally usually don't last/aren't very serious, so that's to be expected.

I don't think its just internet relationships, dating of that age doesn't usually last long in real life either.
