She has ivory skin with lavender eyes and long, white hair pulled up into an upright ponytail with a blue and purple bow. She wears a short blue dress with puffy ruffles at the end and a purple bow below the chest area that reaches just barely below the upper thigh. She also wears a purple bracelet on her right wrist and traditional Japanese sandals that match her dress.
Visual Appearance
Personality: Katsumi may come off as slightly cold or mysterious, even slightly intimidating at first, but she'll open up to you if you take the time to talk to her. When getting to know her better, you'll find that Katsumi is actually very mischievous, insensitive and even negligent to others' feelings, that is, unless you're her friend, and even sometimes she doesn't care about her friends feel. It's all about her. Due to this nature, Katsumi is also arrogant and overly confident with herself. Katsumi also likes to deceive others with her gender, and is in general a person who loves tricks - especially when she's the one who's pulling them. She is also flirtatious and seductive towards people who pique her interest, her main target being young, heterosexual men, though she'll target non-heterosexual girls from time to time and finds it enjoyable to play with them like a toy.
History: Katsumi, born as Katsu, grew up being rather different than the other kids. He got along well and liked to play games with his two sisters, Reiko and Yuki, including dolls and dress-up. He did this so often with his sisters that he gradually started liking acting feminine. At the thriving young age of 8, this fact made him curious about boys and eventually confused about his sexuality.
His solution was found when he discovered his mother's sewing machine (being that his mother was a tailor). He became interested in the machine, and one day after watching his mother work, he thought it would be a great idea to try it out for himself once she was gone. Katsu picked up a piece of pink cloth and successfully added two sequins to it. He poked a hole in it with scissors and added a string, where he would use the string to wrap the cloth around himself.
Katsu later told his mother about his interest in her sewing machine. Thrilled, his mother taught him the basics of how to make different items of clothing with the machine. By age 11, he was an expert, and got his very own sewing machine.
Katsu started making his own clothes with a passion and proudly wore them. He started getting bullied after this, which lowered Katsu's self esteem. He stopped wearing his own clothes for a while, and gave them all to his sisters because of how bad the bullying got.
With sudden realization, during the summer, Katsu decided that he still wanted to wear his clothes. And the only way to do that without being picked on is if he was a girl, right?
By the time 7th grade started, Katsu was now Katsumi. She dressed up and posed as a girl, and nobody suspected her. Adding to this, she began to date boys. When she had her first kiss, the first thing she did right after was tell the boy that she really had boy parts, and he was disgusted. This honestly made her laugh, and she continued tricking boys until it became accustomed to her behavior.
In 8th grade, Katsumi quickly became popular. She was liked because of her clothing, and a lot of people thought she was beautiful. Nobody believed anybody who told people about Katsumi's real gender because she would always deny it.
Katsumi, after coming home from school one day, found some old clothes of hers that no longer fit her. She brought the clothes to school the next day and gave them away, and now everybody was wearing the clothes that she made. Attention was brought to Katsumi by the principal, and she was exposed to the public as a genius fashion designer by the staff. There was a news report about Katsumi on television, and she eventually became very well known for her clothing.
Soon she started making clothes for famous people and models for fashion shows. This is how Hope's Peak Academy found her and invited her to the school.
Trivia:
- Katsu (cat-soo) means "victory". Katsumi (cat-soo-me) means "victorious beauty" while Egami (eh-gah-me) has no known meaning.
- Katsumi's e-Handbook states that she likes the sound of rain and designing clothes and that she dislikes mismatched clothing and getting dirty.
- Katsumi's birthday, May 26th, is National Blueberry Cheesecake Day. She was given this birthday because of her design. -
something just doesn't feel right about her
I just wanna know if there's something I need to fix -
Not really. The first paragraph doesn't make your OC sound overtly perfect.
-
oops
here's the visual appearance -
And thank you. But I'm a little more worried about her history.
-
It's the name. Often times, Mary-sues have names that mean stuff like 'Beauty', 'Perfect' and stuff like that.
But other than that, your oc is fine. -
Katsumi is the female equivalent of Katsu, which means "victory". Katsu chose that name because it was the most similar to his real name. Plus, it would probably be easier that way for him. But I can see where you're coming from, thank you.
-
*Katsu is Katsumi's real name, btw.
-
You're welcome. Your oc is lovely, I must say.
-
Thank you.
-
The name isn't Mary sueish honestly. If we're going to say it is by the fact it means victory, then any character named Victor or Victoria is automatically a Mary Sue as well.xD
-
But anyway, I really like the character, and it all works very well in my opinion.
-
Of course the name Belle/Bella means "beauty". But the protagonist of the "Twilight" films is the exact opposite of a Mary Sue. xD
-
Thank you Heph :>
Twilight... was horrible tbh -
Exactly.xD Names are just names. Unless you name your character 'Perfectia Beatifulia Lovegirl' or some s--- like that you're fine.
