so my permit is useless until august xD -

My parents also are weird about driving. They didn't let my brother get a permit or license till he was 18, and even then they only let him because he couldn't get a good job without one. They are probably like that because my two older siblings can't be trusted with a big responsibility like driving a car.

That's exactly why. My parents think that if their children start driving as teenagers, they won't be careful with a big piece of machinery. Same reason why driving insurance for teenagers is a lot higher than for adults.
