A host club... hm... well.. it's hard to explain.
But in Ouran High School Host Club, Tamaki Senpai defines it as: Elegant young boys with to much time on their hands, entertain young ladies, who also have, way to much time on their hands. -

A host club is basically similar to a hostess club, only its guys. The hosts serve paying customers by serving drinks,having conversations and generally entertaining them.
Kinda a crappy definition but hope it helps. -
