It's 4 for the first one. (3.2)^2+(2.4)^2 is 16 and sq root of 16 is 4.
The second one is 24. (23.04)^2+(6.72)^2 is 576, and sq root of that is 24. -
Mark where each cm ends.
-
I hope this isn't too much to ask, Lelouch, but can you translate that into how a seventh grader would right that? We have to use scale factor to find the missing side lengths.

Since for the first one, the other triangle length width is 1.8, and the whole triangle is 5 width, you subtract 5-1.8 which is 3.2. 3.2 is the width of the left side.
You use a^2+b^2=c^2 which is Pythagorean theorem.
Take the two sides then, 3.2 and 2.4, and use them as a and b. (3.2)^2+(2.4)^2 equals 16. Then take the sq root (or divide by 2) and you get 4. 4 is the final answer. -
I know nothing.
-
And the second one?
-
Same thing applies-
1.96 is half of the whole triangle, 25 is the whole width. You subtract 25-1.96=23.04. 23.04 is the other half of the triangle. You use Pythagorean theorem. (23.04)^2+(6.72)^2 = 576. The sq root of 576 (or divide by 2) = 24, which is the solution. -
I took a picture of the first one for you, in case if you didn't know how to write it:

woahwoahwoah
I appreciate the help but I'm super confused. How would you right this as a 7th grader? We haven't learned the pythagorean theoreum or whatever that is yet. -
Wait you're in seventh grade and you haven't learned the Pythagorean theorem ._.
-
Then it's time to learn the Pythagorean Theorem. It's a^2+b^2=c^2 and it only works on right triangles.
-
Oh, and c is the side opposite of the right angle (also known as the hypotenuse).
-
I want to figure this out as basically and quickly as possible, please.
