I will tell you what a Huldrefolk is.
"Huldrefolk" is a general term for a type of Scandinavian fairytale creature. This type includes trolls, Nokken, hulders, tusser, and basically every malevolent Scandinavian fairytale creature. Many of these creatures are in a way counterparts to the more benevolent elven creatures; Nokken is a trollish version of Fossegrimen, hulders are trollish version of elves, and tusser are trollish versions of nisser. While the main difference between trollish huldrefolk and the elven folk can also be unpredictable and dangerous, and huldrefolk can be friendly from time to time depending on how you treat them. A good way to explain their difference is that should you meet huldrefolk and elven folk, the huldrefolk will be more likely to kill you while the elven folk will simply make you crazy or humiliate you. Huldrefolk are said to live underground in cave system, but they are also said to live in deep dark forests and in moutains where people don't venture often. These creatures prefer to keep themselves hidden, and blend in perfectly with nature.
Their relationship to humans varies depending on the creature; tusser hate humans and will harm any they came across, trolls like the taste of human flesh and may eat you, and hulders simply find humans enticing and will try to charm and lure them in and make them their lovers or thralls.
Note: The word "hulder" comes from the old Norse verb "hylja" which means "hide"
