It's not abuse. He just..he gets mad sometimes. And he hit me a few times when I was younger, then stopped. He started again about a year ago.

Apparently his temperament gets the better. Do not blame yourself for your father's actions. You know better, and you did absolutely nothing to provoke him. It is he who unleashed all hell to the point of hitting such an innocent girl.
