You ice it until the ice melts to get the swelling down. And then you put heat on it for 15 mins because thr heat will soothe the muscles.

It is. Its actually recommended to do after icing. Because it helps your joints. Heat is better for joints than ice is and your ankle is a joint. It connects your foot to your leg. Icing isnt really meant for pain...thats what the heat is for. Icing is to get swelling down. Ive broken my ankle twice and sprained it multiple times. Once you've injured an area it is more than likely that will be a weak point on your body and will susceptible to more injuries. Heat is recommended
