I knew a fair amount about dogs. You know, the normal. Don't approach a stray dog, let a dog sniff your hand before petting it.
But I knew nothing about how to stop the dog running at me, teeth bared.
I remember holding up my arms as it leapt onto me. I remember the yell I let out as it knocked me onto the ground. I remember pain, and warmth down my face. Blood. Teeth snapped. I remember screaming, loudly. I was in my twenties, about, but I was screaming like a little girl, thrashing and crying out. Canine teeth sank into multiple places on my body. I remember other people screaming, trying to pull the dog off. They did, eventually. I curled into a ball, vision blackening around the edges
And then? Blackness. -
