I also know the difference between who and whom. That one is falling out of practice.

No matter what the context, who can always be used.
Whom is really complicated. Pretty well if you can replace the word who with "him" or "her" then whom is an acceptable replacement.
Who was it?
Her was it?
Her doesn't work, so who stays.
To who I am speaking?
To him I am speaking.
Him works as a way to answer the question so whom would work.
To whom I am speaking. -

Yeah I could see it. You seem like you wouldn't be that up tight teacher that everybody hates, you'd be the awesome relaxed teacher who is willing to help when someone asks for it.
