What's with all the school stuff asking us to describe ourselves? I've been with myself for the past fourteen years and we hardly know each other.

You know what I mean though? "Write a poem about yourself and who you are and what you've come from." I dunno, I came from a s---ty Catholic school that charges too much and doesn't give a damn about their students?

I think I did it though. I like my first line though. I couldn't use an actual name because there's a girl in my English class who shares my first best friend's name.

I AM FROM the three-foot puddles in the gravel between our homes.
Afternoons on an old, blue set of swings with my cousins, my first lifelong friends.
Reading the same picture books every night before bed, and being able to tell the story myself, despite not yet knowing how to read.
Trying to be like all the other kids, hating myself for not being smart or confident enough.
Finding myself in the soprano section, singing melodies to a hobby that is finally my own.
Unexpected waves of creativity, washing over me and feeding my desire to create.
Learning to love my world and the people living in it
