Something dark and eerie lingered over it as he grasped his knee tightly, in this crazy thought that a tight hold would cure the pain.
He felt a shadow linger over him. He didn't panic, for he knew who this shadow belonged to.
"Lukka got you really bad, didn't he?" the man above him asked. Though he sported a sheepish smile, his green eyes showed a sense of worry. "You're going to be alright?"
"Ah.." He pondered for a second. "Yeah, well maybe some help will do it some good."
For what seemed like hours the figure over him worked at his knee, massaging and applying tons of ointment on it. He wasn't sure what the ointment really did, but he was sure that if the other was applying it then obviously it was for some good.
"That feel any better?" he asked, releasing the leg from his grip and peering up a the blonde male before him. He didn't smile, but his look had a sense that was beyond his usual serious self. A smile wasn't needed there.
The blonde sighed heavily in response. "Well.. Yeah, I guess it feels better."
"Is there anything wrong, my bird?"
He remembered how being called "my bird" used to bother him. He remembered how he thought it was an insult at first, and now hearing those words was the best thing he could wish for.
"There is.. This night feels weird. Like if something really bad is going to happen at any moment. I don't like the feel of it.."
"Then try to not think of it."
Despite it being such a simple suggestion and solution, he figured it worked best than anything. especially if it were coming from him, that man with the green eyes that he used to fear more than anything else in the world.
Later in the night he rested on the bed, his leg now feeling better than it had a first. Perhaps it had just been a very simple sprain and nothing too serious. All he knew was that now everything seemed to be a bit better.
The large body next to him pressed against him closely, almost cuddling his own smaller self. It began to kiss his head and hair, then his cheek and neck. His strong arms wrapped around his 'bird's' small waist.
"You're affectionate," he finally giggled, his cheeks rosy.
"I suppose," the older male laughed in response.
It was strange for him to think that this man was the man he feared months ago. Now this man was all he had left in the world, and he was all he needed.
"Mittaro," he kept giggling, feeling the older male squeeze his sides. He was ticklish, and the other knew it.
While he felt happy at that moment, that small thought lingered at the back of his head. The thought about everything feeling so off that day. He feared something would happen again, and it was the last thing he wanted at that moment.
"My bird," Mittaro whispered in his ear, a slight smile on his face as he spoke. "I've been meaning to ask you something, but when Lukka came along I couldn't do it."
"What is it?" the younger of the two asked curiously. It wasn't like Mittaro to wait to ask questions, unless it were on a sensitive topic. But that didn't seem like the case there.
"Well.." Mittaro began. "I've thought.. For a long time on asking you about this, so don't laugh or anything, but.. Have you ever thought on changing your name or something?"
He was even more curious than before. That man certainly wasn't acting like his usual self, it seemed. "What?"
Mittaro only laughed some more, and now he seemed rather hesitant and reluctant to answer. "Well.. Would you be willing to change your name from Dodo Sato to Dodo Hokkaido for me?"
The smaller male froze for a second. "But why your last name? I don't get.." He looked back to face the bright, sheepish smile of the face behind him. Then in sudden realization, his eyes filled with tears as a look of pure shock showed through his features.
"Mittaro.. You.. You idiot!" he finally cried. "I.." His face reddened as he tried to come up with words to answer him.
The male behind him laughed loudly as a response. Sure, he didn't get an answer from the younger. But he didn't need one. It was all too obvious.
"I love you, my bird."
