To whoever it may concern-
Holy Cross has lost the decency it once held. I have been a part of this school for longer than most students and even some of the staff. Through my nine years of attendance, I have slowly watched this place degrade and fall into its current state. While my identity may be fairly obvious, I will not be taking outright ownership for this writing. Please do not quickly scan through this in hopes of finding an author to falsely apologize to or talk this over with privately. I feel that identifying myself would ruin the ideas that I have brought to your attention in this letter. For my sake, and for the sake of the point I am trying to bring forth, confront the issues in your school before confronting me.
Holy Cross offers an excellent education. Most of the teachers are caring and provide a strong academic base for their students. However, this would be more effective if the students themselves utilized the tools given to them. Being in a Catholic school should ensure an overall better moral foundation in students. This, unfortunately, is not the case. Second Step, a program that has been featured in every grade's religion class, states that bullying is repetitive, one-sided, and unfair. The first time I can recall being bullied, according to this definition, was in the first grade. I have always heard that kindergarten and the first grade are supposedly the most innocent grades, during which conflicts are minor and short-lived. A time said to be so simple should not involve any sort of serious harassment. Childhood is meant to be fun. My childhood, greatly influenced by Holy Cross, was not what most would call fun. Much of it was spent wishing for respect and acceptance from others, no matter how small those acts of kindness were. The few consistent friends I had were outcasts of the common bunch as well, and were taunted just as much as I was, if not more. -
