I felt you squeeze back. Almost as if asking for permission. I don't know if it was my brain playing tricks on me, or what. I gave you a small, tired smile, repeating the words I had said a minute ago.
"Yes, you can let go, my angel. I will see you, soon." I gave you one last kiss on your bruised up cheek as I heard your heart monitor beeping, pronouncing your death.
Fresh tears swam their way down my cheeks as doctors came rushing in. They took me out. You died on May 16th. I hadn't noticed your bracelet still on my hand. I gave it a kiss, remembering all we had been through. Remembering old times, remembering our last kiss, how it felt to be in your arms.
