He is part of a artificial sun god Solaris,and ten years before the game 'sonic the hedgehog'there was a explosion,which killed the people who created him and his 'brother',Iblis.Shadow and Silver the hedgehog come from the future and Shadow pursues Mephiles while Silver tries to get Iblis.Shadow traps Mephiles into the Scepter Of Darkness,and Silver helps the Duke of Soleanna trap Iblis into his daughter,Elise,and if she cries,Iblis will be released.Ten years later,Rouge releases Mephiles by accident.Shadow does not know him because he didn't go back in time yet.In the future,Silver-Along with Blaze- is trying to destroy Iblis,who was released because Elise died.Then the future Mephiles 'helps' them and tells them that Sonic is the 'Iblis Trigger'-which is true,n a way.Then Mephiles brings them back in time.Silver tries to destroy Sonic,then Silver meets Shadow for the first time.At the end of their battling,they both use Chaos Control at the same time,making a time portal,they jump in,they go ten years later,and they captured Iblis and Mephiles.Sonic,Tails,and Knuckles are in the future because Eggman sent them there,and they saw Blaze,Mephiles,and Silver go into the past,then they go fight Iblis,find two chaos emeralds,and go back to their time.Sonic tries to save Elise,and Mephiles Kills sonic from behind.Elise cries,unleashing Iblis.After Sonic's friends find the seven chaos emeralds,they use them to revive him.Silver,Shadow,and Sonic go into super form and defeat Solaris.Elise and Sonic then find a candle-a candle that will make Solaris erased from all time.Elise blew out the candle,thus the events of that game never happened.
