and this is gonna be a long post, just a heads up lol

js a heads up, a good bit of this may not make it into the final drafts of my lore lol
long ago in perone, there were only two types of sections, the magicks and the mystics (tho they weren't called those back then). and there were more magicks than mystics. but at some point war broke out between the two tribes, lots of stuff happened, and the leader of the mystics at the time was killed. so someone close to the leader, the right hand man or whatever, put a curse on the leader of the magicks clan. of course, the magicks clan leader wasn't really scared of this "curse", since he had no clue what the curse did. but soon, slowly but surely people in the magicks clan either started losing powers, or when families would reproduce, their offspring would be born with no powers. that made the leader scared. so he "sent away" anyone and everyone who he suspected was affected by the curse, putting them in their own city. the only one who was affected that stayed was the leader, though he didn't believe he was effected by said curse. years later and many more banishments pass, and the magicks slowly started to dwindle as the mystics grew in hiding, and the people without powers, the mortals, stayed in their locked down city and grew as well.
(i'm thinking of changing a couple of things here. for one, i think i may possibly do that, mystics were the main minority for the longest time, it was just them. then slowly over time the "magicks" become a thing bc of stuff i will explain in a minute lol i do want there to be some sort of war or fight between the two tribes, but i'm not sure what i want to do with this or what could be the cause of the war. plus, i'm also not sure if what i wanna do with the different sub-sections and the evolution of their tribe growths would be too complicated?? lmaoo)
in this world there are many different types of humans in the realm peroné resides in, but there are three main types in the systems: magicks, mystics and mortals. humans that are considered magicks are like witches and wizards, able to use and create their magic from their own bodies. though those natural abilities have faded, they found other ways to channel their magic by using wands. there are three sub-sections within the magicks: elemental, physical and mental. magicks in the elemental category have powers relating to the elements, fire powers, the ability to control water, can control the earth and move mountains, has the ability to control and create storms, etc. magicks in the physical category have powers that revolve around their physical form, like super speed or super strength, the ability to change their appearance (or shapeshift), the ability to scale walls or turn their skin as hard as rock, etc. and magicks in the mental category have powers that are more inward and less visible to the eye, like mindreading, telekinesis, psychic powers, the power to phase through solid objects, etc. out of the three sub-sections, the ones made out to be the strongest are the elementals, with the physical and mental sub-sections a close second and third.
(now for the magicks, i'm considering changing their magic some? i might only do the two "physical" and "mental" sub-categories and maybe do the elemental ones for the mystics, but idrk for sure if i like that better than having them here for the magicks. and like, i really wanna take inspo from one of my favorite books, powerless by lauren roberts (I'M NOT OBSESSED, YOU ARE-) and so something similar where there's a special power that hardly anyone had that's lowk kinda op- and i do like the idea of few few people having the ability to sense magic in others? i might possibly do that as something for the mystics, since it fits more for them lowk- i don't wanna make any one of them op and end up with an op character, but still lol)
the humans that are considered mystics are hybrid-like creatures. there are two sub-sections of the mystics: cryptids and naturals. mystics that are cryptids are hybrids of mythical creatures like unicorns and pegasus, hypogriffs, centaurs, etc. and other mystics that are naturals are hybrids of more normal creatures, like birds, horses, wolves, bears, etc. most mystics all have the abilities to one, shape-shift from their half-hybrid appearance into their full animal forms. and most mystics have the ability to hide their part-animal appearance and appear fully human. out of the two sub-sections, the only mystics with magical abilities are cryptids, and their powers, albeit mostly weak, are mostly of the healing or defensive variety. and the naturals mystics don't have magical abilities, but do tend to take on heightened abilities of the animals they're hybrids of, like night vision or heightened strength or heightened speed. there are some bad traits with the mystics, though. some mystics, starting from birth, are born in their full animal form and tend to never fully develop out of it, which leaves them stuck in "creature-brain" for possibly the rest of their lives and making them outcasts. whereas on the opposite end, some mystics at birth have very little to no hybrid appearance, making them outcasts among the mystics.
(now for the mystics, i'm not sure if i wanna do the two different types? i might do just the like, cryptid mythics, maaaybe? idk, i do still really like the idea of doing more natural human/animal hybrids, but it would be cooler to do more fantasy human/animal hybrids- but idk, i'll figure that out later haha)
Out of the three main types in the magic system, the mortals are considered the weakest, as they tend to have little to no powers or little to no hybrid appearance. The humans considered mortals are thought to be the weakest, but most mortals have learned to fend for themselves and grow strong despite their lack of magic. No one seems to know why some humans aren't born with magic or animal-like features, it is still being researched.
(now, i'm not sure if i want to do something similar to powerless and do like, all the humans with no powers get just outcasted bc they're cursed (but in a more gentle way and lowk they don't think that they're being outcasted? more like protected by their magic human counterparts??) or maybe lowk we do a switchup, the people with magicks get "banished" (gently hidden away?) idk, as of right now i don't really have anything to change for them lol)
now as for characters and their backstories and stuff, i'm still working on those- but i can put what small bits i have down on here lol
