  Shiva is patterned after the Hindu god, Shiva. Shiva, the god, embodies both masculinity and feminity, yet surpasses the understanding of gender to humans. As a symbol of this, Shiva has a male and female persona which are polar opposites, embodying destruction and creation. And while Shiva presents mainly as male, he has no definite form as he is omnigender and will also respond to any pronouns. Also taking after the Hindu gods Kali and Vishnu, Shiva has the power of creation (representing Kali), and the power of destruction (representing Vishnu).
  Known from a prophecy long ago, Shiva is the descendant of the goddess and witch Rudra, who possessed powers beyond the rest of the Darklings. The mark of Rudra skipped many descendants and reappeared in Shiva, revealing his godhood, though he keeps it a secret. Although Shiva has immense power, only a few believe that he is the god that was foretold of. Shiva knows of his descent and his status as a god, but does not share this due to his lack of comprehension and control of his full abilities. Shiva inwardly bears guilt and shame over not knowing his full potential as a god, resulting in his secretive life among mortals. Shiva's godhood is hinted by many firm believers of his true power; his secret is later revealed to his closest allies by his followers. Though Shiva knows of his status, he is rather humble and even brushes it off, leading most to believe he is nothing more than the prince of Darklings. Shiva, though mysterious and intimidating, desires nothing more than to live his life in peace, despite being a mercenary and having gone into many battles.
  Though Shiva is initially closed off, he is capable of love in his own unique way. This is shown when he not only finds a partner, but also later has a child with him.
  Shiva's morality is often questioned, but he seems to have good intentions, though his methods may sometimes be questionable.
