Thread Topic: Dating & Boyfriend/Girlfriend Advice
Samalama13 NewbieThanks for the advice it did help
I had a crush on my best friends boyfriend but I didn't tell anyone and then he found out...and starting flirting with me and then my best friend and him got in a fight and broke up...about a month later he asked me out and I asked my best friend several times if I went out with him if she would be ok and she said ya and that we would be cute together so after 2 weeks I said yes...she was fine until he started gettin really lovey dovey with me and got jealous and now she hates my guts...so what should I do because I want to be friends with her but I also want to still be with my boyfriend?
ok well first off, im sorry to hear about your friend. but you cant really choose who you're attracted to. now, basically your friend is getting "single-goggles". what i mean by that is, when you're single you tend to see everyone who has a bf/gf as amazing and that you're missing out on something. and often when you're dating, single life seems more appealing. now your friend seems to have a bad case of "single-goggles" because she might be realising how much she misses her ex. but everyone goes through this stage of the "do you want to grab a coffee some time". its simply the fact that you miss the feeling you had when you were with them. in your friends case i think she also doesnt like the fact that he may be treating you better than he did her (idk if this is true but anyways). i think that you need to explain to this guy that you want to keep your friend around and that whilst he is also important to you, he needs to exercise descretion of his feelings towards you. i know some friends who are very lovey dovey that it's over the top and it does often get annoying seeing it every day, so she may not be the only one who is annoyed. but you dont have to do this, if he matters the most to you, then tell your friends to deal. if they care about you it wont matter, they'll learn to ignore it.
sorry for this next quote but i think its pretty relevent
"be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind dont matter and those who matter dont mind"
hope this helps a bit :)
** soz for all the HIMYM references but they really do help in some situations
