Astrid holds back a cough and wafts away the smoke with her hand, flicking her ears in sight annoyance. she was a little taken aback from the majestic shed of Cheyennes whole frontier, but alas, as soon as the spectacle was to be beholden, it was soon time to leave. she did not turn when Adrianna entered.
"I don't believe we'll be needing that offer, thank you for hosting." She said, her tone dripping with scorn and resentment. she got up and dusted her skirt off lightly, then turned and waited for Metus, giving a polite nod of acknowledgement and thanks to Cheyennes assistant. -
Metus felt a burning in their nose and a tightness in their throat when they smelled the cigar smoke. It was painfully familiar. Metus steeled their face before kicking the desk again as they got up. They were a little bit petty. They followed Astrid, feeling a bit better as they watched her. Bad memories went away when metus looked at his beloved mate. It felt like her grey eyes melted the pain.

Cheyenne let out a derisive scoff as she observed the alpha couple leaving, her eyes fixed on their backs. Adrianna trailed behind them, dutifully escorting them out, and the heavy cedar door slammed shut with a resonant thud that echoed through the room. As the smoke from her cigar slowly died out, she extinguished the stubby remnant in her ashtray, the embers fading into darkness. With a casual yet deliberate motion, she leaned back in her leather chair, intertwining her fingers behind her head, allowing her injured hand to rest gently atop the unscathed one. She crossed her legs, mirroring the same careful positioning to accommodate her injury. Glancing up at the ornate plasterwork on the ceiling, her gaze traced the intricate patterns before she abruptly shifted her posture, removing her legs from the desk and sitting upright, the leather creaking softly beneath her as she regained her composure.
"Just in time." The alpha says with satisfaction just as her servant re-enters the office. Adrianna, embodying poise and elegance, looked towards her superior with anticipation, her hands delicately clasped over her abdomen in a gesture that exuded both respect and readiness. The atmosphere in the room shifted subtly, charged with an unspoken understanding between them, as the servant's demeanor conveyed a blend of loyalty and expectation, ready to fulfill whatever task lay ahead. She anticipated there will be many upcoming tasks to complete in the wake of this defeat. "I want you to write this down."
"Yes, my lady." Adrianna immediately reaches into a hidden pocket of her apron and pulls out a notepad with a pen clipped to it. She flips open the notepad to a blank page, clicking her pen and looking back up at Cheyenne. "I'm ready."
"Astrid and Metus have rejected our agreement. This means Blood Moon will get to retain control of the Camas Valley territory."
"Such is true." The subordinate echoes, the sounds of her soft writing filling the room.
"First, we'll send some troops down there to gauge the situation and guard the border. Moonstone will no doubt have done the same, but we can use this territory to at least push them back a bit and perhaps gain some valuable intel on their next steps." Adrianna continues writing as her superior speaks.
"I predict Moonstone will want to try and convince Dirty Shirt and Ruby to join their forces. I won't let that happen." Cheyenne stands up, dusting off her blazer. "Plan a re-negotiation meeting with both packs. I'll be out for a few days."
"What next, my lady?"
"In the meantime, keep the safeguard heavily patrolled. I'll select a few emissaries to reach out to Moonstone's allies individually. We might need to change a few minds ourselves."
The alpha exhaled deeply as she turned to face one of the expansive bay windows in her office. The sunset streamed in, illuminating the space and casting a warm glow around her. Her gaze drifted outside, where she observed the imposing gates slowly closing behind Astrid and Metus, their figures gradually disappearing from view. A smile crept across her face, a mixture of curiosity and anticipation. She understood that the conclusion of this chapter was merely a pause in the unfolding narrative; the game was still afoot, and she was determined to see it through to the end. -
As Astrid walked away with Metus, she felt a bit better. life was easier in these little moments like this when she had a couple of seconds alone with her beloved partner. but she couldn't silence the thoughts running through her brain, she felt like a bad leader for trusting someone as sketchy as Cheyenne, and all she wanted to do was protect her pack.
-
"I think we handled that okay all things considered. Neither of us tried to maul her." Metus said. They fiddled with their long hair feeling anxious in the shadow of the Bloodmoon mansion. Metus hated mansions as well as any show of riches.

Cheyenne finds it nearly impossible to remain alone with her thoughts for any significant length of time. A true enthusiast of spectacle and action, this alpha female thrives on constant movement, seamlessly transitioning from one location or task to another. Some might argue that her relentless multitasking is a testament to her leadership skills, as she diligently nurtures her alliances and keeps her social network vibrant. Others might suggest that it's actually her insatiable curiosity for the latest gossip that drives her to stay connected, always with an ear to the ground for the juiciest tidbits. Regardless of the motivation, it’s clear that Cheyenne is a connoisseur of excitement, perpetually chasing that next rush of dopamine that comes from her fast-paced lifestyle.
Or perhaps.. it may be because her thoughts might not entirely be her own. Ungggh... A distorted voice rasps, rattling against the inside of the boss' skull. You... are truly just like your father... Placing a palm against her forehead, Cheyenne grimaces and closes her eyes. She immediately turns to her assistant who straightens her posture, ready for another command.
"Adrianna... The gem..." She growls lowly, a shaky index finger pointing towards the tall wooden cabinet in the corner of the room. "Give it to me, now." Adrianna listens, speed-walking to retrieve it, as the alpha stumbles to her desk. She steadies herself with both hands against the surface of it, wincing as she feels a shock up her injured arm from the pressure of her weight. How long do you plan to keep up this facade? Until the day you die, and I possess your heir? The level of pride you have is truly something to behold.
"God, just-" Her head snaps up, and she reaches one arm out. "Throw it to me."
The answer to get rid of me for good is simple, Cheyenne. You just don't want to accept it. All you have to do is-
Desperately, the woman catches the necklace, throwing it around herself. Almost instantaneously, the voices and the pounding stop. She lets out a shaky sigh of relief, rubbing her forehead. All I have to do is wear this. This will shut you up for a while. She takes a deep breath, standing up straight, and tucks the necklace beneath her shirt.
"I'm going now. Don't miss me too much. That's an order." -
(so there's a few different routes i think we could take atp! it might be best to timeskip right here but to what scenario i'm open-minded to
i suggest maybe moonstone could reach out to dirty shirt and ruby, and cheyenne catches astrid and/or metus in the middle of negotiations with them... orrr, they could meet up again at camas valley a few days later where they both just kinda check up on the situation and can get into a scuffle
orrr... we could try having blood moon forces making rogue advances towards the river, or getting caught spying on moonstone
whatever y'all think would be interesting and dramatic!!) -
(hey y’all, hope you are well
no pressure just giving this a small bump in case you were interested in starting this back up soon? i understand if you’re busy) -
(I'm still interested)
-
(me too!)
