Mahina’s breathing shut her eyes tight.

"I'm so sorry this happened to you." Ernie whispered.

Mahina whimpered.

Ernest held her close to him, looking up at Selene again.

Selene scooped some of the liquid into her wooden spoon. She carefully walked towards them. ‘Here, I’ve got it,’ she said. ‘This will help her recover.’

Ernie nodded, scooting away slightly. "Alright."

Selene gently opened Mahina’s mouth. She didn’t object as Selene poured the mixture onto her mouth.

Ernest watch Mahina carefully, holding her to make sure she stayed still.

Mahina started violently shaking. She let out a wail of agony.

Ernie held her close. "It's alright, it's alright." He said quickly and softly.

Mahina whimpered. Colour returned to her face slowly.

Ernest gave a small sigh of relief. "Thank god." He mumbled.

Selene sat down next to Ernest on the bed. She rested Mahina’s head in her lap, stroking her hair softly. ‘She’s be OK,’ Selene mumbled.

Ernie gave a weak smile. "Good."
