You know how when someone that has a bunch of mutual friends of you and yhey either add you as a friend or comment on something you commented on, it says (friends of ___)? Well, does anybody know if there is a rhyme or reason for that specific person being chosen to be said as a mutual friend, or is it random?
Something that goes along with this question has been nagging the back of my mind and making me wonder, so I would greatly apreciate it if someone can tell me. If no one can, it's not that big of a deal I guess, but I'm just wondering and would like to know. -

Mutual friends are friends of your friends that you don't have as a friend on Facebook.

I know what they are. If my question wasn't clear enough, sorry. I'm trying to multi-task.
You know how, say, someone friend requests you. They say "___ (friends with ___) added you as a friend". The first blank is the person that friend requested you. The second one is the person being didplayed as a mutual friend. But lets say you have many mutual friends of this person. Is there a certain reason that this one person was chosen to be displayed or is it random? -

Ok, that's kind of what I was thinking, but for me most of the time it doesn't really seem all that random... About 90% of the time it shows my crush as a mutual friend when I know there are many other mutual friends as well.

I think it will random a close friend of yours if they are a mutual friend.

But... If it does that then I can think of 2 other people who would win out every time. I try to talk to my crush, but I usually fail so on there he isn't exactly close
