"Yes?" I asked, my vision slightly blurred. He told me that I have lung cancer and that I only had a year at most to live. My eyes filled with tears as he stepped out to call my guardian. I knew he wouldn't be picking up though.

"One mile!" the teacher called out. I was a fast runner, and ran in front of everyone.

Dad actually did pick up. Shocker. He dropped me off back at school with an inhaler and a pass to excuse me from gym.

I finsihed running.

I had to sit in the bleachers watching the students pass.

I put my hands behind my back and glanced at the bleachers. The girl from earlier was sitting there.

I looked around and saw the boy from math class looking towards me. I smiled and waved.

I looked at her and blinked. No one had ever waved at me before. I blinked agian and quickly turned back around.

He turned his back on me. I pressed my lips together and put my chin in hands. "You're an odd one. . . But what is it?" I questioned.
