Delilas could hear someone else in the woods. She needed to make sure she wasn't found. She was on a mission for the safety and renewal of her planet. If she was captured, her home world and everyone in it would die, and she would be to blame.
-
Jason pushed aside a few low lying branches as he walked past them. He paused for a moment, hearing the light crunch of twigs and leaves, as if someone else was walking in the woods as well.
-
She could hear the other person getting closer. She began to walk faster, making sure she was going in the direction away from the person.
-
The louder rustling of leaves only confirmed his suspicions. Jason picked up speed, breaking into a run.
-
Her long strides pushed her through the forest. She ran for a time then stopped and hid in a bush. She huddled in the greenery, hoping she wouldn't be seen. Hoping she would be safe.
-
Jason stopped by a handful of bushes, listening for the crunch of twigs and leaves. The sound was no where to be heard. He turned to face the bushes, one in particular, that seemed oddly misshapen in the impending darkness of night.
-
She could see someone in front of the bush she was hiding in. A tear gently rolled down her cheek and a small whimper escaped her lips. It was over. It was all over.
-
Jason raised an eyebrow at the whimper. It didn't sound like an animal so much as it did human... He knelt beside the bush and peeled away the short, prickly branches. He was greeted by two teary eyes, which caused him to flinch. They were beautiful, this girl was beautiful... But she was definitely not human.
-
She looked into the man's brown eyes. She shrunk back more. She didn't want him to take her away, even though he did look quite handsome.
-
"I'm not going to hurt you," he whispered reassuringly, holding up his hands to back up his statement. "That bush can't be very comfortable."
-
She backed up more, then stood quickly and stared at him, her ice blue eyes full of caution and weariness.
-
"It's alright, you're safe. I'm not going to harm you." He stood as well, offering her a sympathetic smile. "What's your name?" She seemed so petrified of him and he immediately felt guilty.
-
She took a step back, which created a considerable distance between them, because of her long legs. "Why should I tell you anything?" Her voice was strong and confident. Nothing like how she felt and looked.
-
"You're lost, obviously, and this isn't your native planet. You know absolutely nothing about this world. If you simply tell me some things, I can help you." Now came the bargaining stage... He was quite good at this, seeing as he'd had his share of negotiations with Most Wanted criminals.
-
"Do you have weapons? And people watching? Are you going to test me for unknown diseases? Because that's what happened to everyone else who came to this planet." Delilas continued to stand there, watching the man intently.
