"No. Who's that?" Mark acted completely oblivious. Was it working?

I had a confused expression on. "The girls friends say that miss Towers walked away with this young man the day of her kidnapping. The security guards saw him pull a gun on her and left with her in his car." I remembered that day all to clearly.

"Oh. I hope you guys catch him." Definitely a lie, but...

The cop reached into his front pocket. He held a card out for Mark to take. "Please call this number if you see him."

"Of course, Officer." Mark took the card.

The cop nodded. "You can go now." He walked back to his vehicle.

Mark gradually sped the car up to the speed he'd been at previously.

I took a deep breath and settled back in my seat. "I thought they were here to take you away."

He shrugged. "Guess not." He tore the card up, stuffing the pieces in the cup holder.

I looked over at Mark. "I haven't had breakfast yet and I'm hungry."

"Oh, yeah." He nodded. "We'll stop somewhere, but it's probably a good idea not to go anywhere where we'll have much time with a waitress." He smirked.

I grumbled. "There's no reason to kill someone just over jealousy."
