given us our sorrows and our joys.
You watched over us for your revolution,
which has now come to a close.
You are now a part of our neverending history.
You saw the deaths, and births, of many people.
And now you may rest of your burden,
and fade into the past,
as we welcome...
2012.
Supposedly the year of our destruction.
Wish us well?
For we will all celebrate when this dreaded year ends.
May it see us grow old, behave with youth,
change or remain stubbornly the same.
Welcome, 2012. You are the present, and the future.
