i love tarot cards -
i do believe the magic is in your intuition, not really in the cards themselves, but that doesn't make it any less cool to me

Bro I found my notebook from FSY (mormon camp for 3 days to a week) and holy s---ttttt

they had us write why we believe we're born here on earth, and I wrote this:
This life is a test from whatever divine creation there is. This divinity- we'll call them God for the sake of simplicity- made this world to test one thing: How empathetic we are. We are measured based on how we coexist with others who are different from us. That's why this God has made so many things to try and divide us, like social media, politics, religions, wars, racism, other social issues, all that jazz. It's all to see how we view others. They also want to see how we perservere through all these trials. If we quit the simulation early (suicide), we have to restart, which is where reincarnation takes place. After we finish the simulation, God looks at our results. They measure the empathy we showed, how much we truly tried to be empathetic, the trials we went through, and balances it all out. He then judges where we end up. Mormons aren't completely wrong in the 3 kingdoms, or that there's a new life in them. You go to one of the 3 kingdoms based on how you did on your test, each one being better than the last. The spiritual prison for Mormons- or hell for Christians- is also a real thing, but for unempathetic human beings like certain political figures. This God doesn't particularly care on whether people believe in them or not. They judge all religions equally based on their coexistance with people different than them. -
i think i made my own religion last year?
regardless, i don't believe in this much anymore, but it's still cool to read, and not a bad moral compass to follow regardless of what you believe -
Legolas were you a philosopher in your past life

I got the Nimona graphic novel and The First to Die at the End today
-
I’m already done with the Nimona book
It’s genuinely so good I adore it so much. It feels a bit like there’s too many chunks of info left out to truly get immersed into the story, but you can just tell that the author wrote it for themself. It was a passion project, and it worked phenomenally -
There were times where the pacing felt too jumpy, and the lack of backstory with ballister felt a bit frustrating at first, but I like to think of it as a story told in Nimonas perspective. It’s crazy, jumpy, and has a bit of info left out with other characters because that’s just how she sees the world
-
Also I love how ballister has fully embraced the supervillain role in the book for no reason other than “the institute needed an enemy, and I needed an outlet for my hatred and resentment” like YES KING EAT
-
And I love the fact that the ending was originally SADDER in nimona (both the book and the movie), because the author created her when he felt utterly alone, and like all he could do is hurt people no matter how much he tried to connect with people. Because of that, the ending originally had nimona completely alone as well, because she was originally cursed to break everything she tried to help with
Later on, as he posted more webcomics and gained more traction in this idea of a character and story, he realized he wasn’t alone anymore, therefore Nimona couldn’t be cursed anymore. Her ending had to be a bittersweet one, not a complete tragedy. It’s so sweet and wholesome -
Why do I read books that kill me (*cough* hunger games *cough* they both die at the end and all it’s prequels *cough* nimona *cough*)
