I had a sub in first period today, and we had a list of thirty vocabulary words that we had to define in our own words. They're all from this novel we're going to read because we're learning about utopias and dystopias in fiction. We had to find the page numbers and use context clues. Some of the words weren't in there, so the sub had to write the word in the definition for them on the board for us to redefine in our own words. I had to spell words out for her. She said, "Sir, excuse me." She told the class to be quiet then pointed at me and said, "He's trying to help me with the words on the board. It'll help you too. Let him continue." I just smiled, and she didn't understand why. It was great. -
