The route we were meant to take was closed so we had to go on another route. (by train)

Yep. Then we heard a man saying 'Mind the Gap' at a station and we went one station west and we got off the train and that would be the platform to get on to catch the train home but we had lunch and took the train from the station before and I changed trains and went home.
